Nexia International announces formation of Nexia New Zealand following merger of two leading accounting firms

Nexia International (Nexia), a top 10 network of independent accounting and consulting firms, welcomes the newly-formed Nexia New Zealand to its network of member firms.

Marriotts, a long-standing member firm of Nexia International and HFK, both leading accounting firms based in Canterbury, New Zealand, have merged under the name Nexia New Zealand.

Nexia New Zealand will have a team of approximately 90 people and will occupy a new office space in Christchurch’s central business district.

While both firms are leaders in the mid-tier professional accounting advice and services category, Marriotts has a strong reputation in the agribusiness, manufacturing, hospitality and trade services sectors, and has been a long-standing member of Nexia International. HFK is well known for its work in the health, property and corporate recovery sectors and its team will be new to the Nexia network.

Mike Medlicott, Joint managing partner from Marriotts, says: “We are responding to the rapidly changing business environment by combining the strengths of each of the two firms. This will allow Nexia New Zealand to offer a broader and deeper range of services to clients, as well as maintain our access to an international network of accounting firms.”

Greg Cowles, Joint Managing Partner from HFK, says: “Exporters continue to grow, internationalisation of value chains are more complex, and the number of markets our clients are competing in means Nexia International is able to add real value to our current and potential clients.”

Nexia International CEO Kevin Arnold states: “Nexia International is delighted with the merger of these two respected firms to create Nexia New Zealand. It will be able to deliver outstanding opportunities to New Zealand’s business community, and it will be a further step towards Nexia’s growth strategy of its members being positioned as a top 10 firm in every country.”
