Value Added Tax (VAT), or Goods and Services Taxes (GST), exist in over 160 countries around the world today, with the number of countries adopting this IMF and OECD “tax of choice” continuing to grow. Although the principles of the indirect tax regimes that have been adopted are all similar, the problem is that almost every country implements the legislation in a slightly different way at national level.
