International Women’s Day – Saffery

For our ‘unsung heroes’ campaign for this International Women’s Day 2024, Saffery, our UK-based member firm have shared with us their peer-nominated ‘champions of inclusion’. Congratulations to all for being nominated, we celebrate you and all you are doing to make Saffery an equitable and inclusive place to work.

Alexandra Momtahan

Alex is the co-chair of the Women’s network and is especially good at opening up the floor in network meetings, encouraging discussion on subjects that are often thought of as ‘taboo’.

Amelia Palmer

As co-chair of the Social Mobility network, Amelia takes the lead in the Bournemouth office reaching out to graduates and school leavers from a variety of backgrounds. Through the network she provides advice and insight to teams across the firm to make Saffery a more inclusive place.

Ayse Demirag

Ayse leads our very respected and high performing all-female Business Development team who have seen a big increase in tender wins and proactive BD behaviour like client listening and running intermediaries. She brings the best out of others.

Clare Morgan

Clare brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to her role of leading ED&I at Saffery. She is delivering Saffery’s first ED&I strategy, ‘Everyone Belongs’, and setting up the People Networks is an important part of strengthening inclusion. Clare shows her commitment to diversity and inclusion in the way she speaks and treats others and inspires others to be inclusive.

David Fazakerley

David has an open and friendly manner, and takes time to get to know his colleagues. He’s a committed member of the LGBTQ+ network and helps colleagues feel included and a sense of belonging at work.

Elizabeth Hartless

Liz has done lots for inclusivity at Saffery, particularly around maternity leave and being there for new mothers transitioning back into work. She’s inspired many women around the firm and been an important champion of inclusivity. 

Freya Strawson

As co-chair of our Women’s network, Freya is full of ideas and positivity for raising awareness and helping to shape a fully inclusive culture. She brings her energy, enthusiasm and positivity giving confidence to others to be themselves at work, and volunteers her time to help with a wide range of initiatives.

Heather Williams

Heather brings a ‘how can I help’ attitude to conversations, and always seeks to understand. She’s approachable and kind, and always inspires positivity. She makes Saffery more inclusive by leading by example, and advocates bringing your whole self to work.

Huw Parry

Huw is the co-chair of our Accessibility network, and is committed to helping Saffery be more inclusive for people with disabilities. He draws on his own experiences to help problem solve and provide practical solutions to barriers people may face with a disability.

Jacqui Fowler

Jacqui brings a wealth of insight on inclusion into her role as Talent Management Lead, and as co-chair of the Accessibility network, she provides leadership and supports practical solutions to improve accessibility and inclusion.

James Rucci O’Brien

James is involved in the LGBTQ+ network, which he co-chairs, and the Accessibility network, where his shared experiences bring valuable insight and his leadership turns ideas into action.

John (JC) Sablas

JC actively makes an effort with everyone in the office and engages with the team both inside and outside of work. He knows that everyone has things going on outside of work and is actively present not only as a manager but as somebody to turn to if needed. He radiates positivity and encourages everyone to be their best regardless of their title or background.

Lily Caise

Lily is always there to listen and advise others, welcoming different opinions and ensuring that there is an official support network in place to make everyone feel included at Saffery.

Margi Campbell

Margi makes sure everyone is welcome and treated the same. She makes everyone feel welcome and radiates a positive view of everyone she works with. She welcomes different opinions and constructive challenges, and maintains a positive view of others.

Michelle Bundock

Michelle is understanding and shows kindness, compassion, patience and empathy to everyone in the team. She voices how everyone should have equal opportunities and has taken actions to show she means it. She’s a true leader and role model at work and is always open minded and positive.

Ryan Stowers

Ryan champions the inclusion of people from different socio-economic backgrounds in the Peterborough office. He has led successful initiatives to attract school leavers to Saffery and support those who join the firm. Ryan also supports inclusion at Saffery through his role as co-chair of the Social Mobility network.

Sophia Cattermole

Sophia champions equality through writing posts for the Women’s network, and inspires others to be inclusive by sparking conversations about related discussion topics within the team.

David Horton

David shows commitment to inclusivity by listening and adapting to the individual, taking feedback, seeking to understand and learn more about others, and remembering their specific needs.

Paige Savill

Paige is really understanding, providing support to colleagues with disability or going through ill-health. She goes out of her way to make Saffery a more inclusive place, offering colleagues a safe space to come with any concerns and is always approachable and friendly.

Ella Evans

Ella’s involvement in the LGBTQ+ network, and more recently as co-chair, is helping Saffery be more inclusive. Ella’s energy and ideas inspire others to see what’s possible.
